An Impression of the I.M. Gelfand Memorial

The Memorial held for Gelfand at Rutgers became an amazingly inspirational day. I say amazingly because reflecting on the reason for this event, one would imagine a lot of sadness and low feelings. But what I heard from other participants that they too felt very inspired.

The following day, an overall picture cleared out in my mind. I felt that this event accumulated and carried around a huge "collective energy", a strong "charge" or a magnetic field. I realized then that actually this energy or charge was the energy which was always present around Gelfand wherever he was. And when over a hundred people who knew him gathered, his energy was reflected back.
